Update (3/3/2022): The Whitewater rangers cancelled the event due to the likelihood of rain. Current projections are a 40-50% chance of rain and 55-65% cloud cover during the outreach time. Plus the road leading to Whitewater can flood.
The folks out at the Whitewater Preserve have asked us to do an outreach/star party for their star walk event. Setup between 4:30pm and 5:15pm.
Moon phase: 3 days after New Moon
Sunset: 5:46 pm
Star Party Etiquette:
As with all star parties, please observe standard star party etiquette. Some tips: try to arrive and setup before dark; use no white light – use red filtered flashlights wherever possible – minimize white light from auto door and dome lights; if you arrive late or plan to leave early, take care to approach and park so your headlights or backup lights do not shine on other participants; if you leave early or must use white light, first give a warning so observers or astrophotographers can compensate; please ask before handling other participant’s telescope equipment. Most importantly, be prepared to relax and enjoy good company under the night sky.

If all is going well with Megan I would love to bring her out for an evening under the stars.
We’re really looking forward to seeing our friends.
Fidel will have to bribe the weather gods from his cruise account, so maybe we’ll have decent skies! Let’s keep our fingers crossed for a nice evening.
I do plan on attending.
At this moment in time, I would suggest that everyone pack their Rain Filters. 😢
