Holiday Get-Together this Saturday

Santa Moon

Members,
Join us for our annual, year-end, holiday get-together on Saturday, December 1 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Shakey’s in Redlands.  Pizza, potatoes and chicken will be provided by the club; salads and beverages are self-purchased.  There will be a Secret Santa gift exchange starting at 3:45 pm.  Bring a wrapped gift between $15-$25 for the exchange if you wish to participate.

November Meeting

Freeman's Scope

“Building and Restoring Scopes” will be the November meeting’s program presented by our president Jamie Countryman.  The November is on Saturday the 3rd, 7:00pm at the First Christian Church in San Bernardino.

Saturday Star Party Cancelled

The weather is going to be most foul at Oak Glen on Saturday evening, with clouds, rain and temps below 50 degrees, according to the National Weather Service forecast, so it’s been decided to cancel the outreach at Oak Glen.

Megaflare

The October club meeting is this Saturday, 7:00 pm at the First Christian Church, San Bernardino.  The video presentation will be on Megaflares from the How the Universe Works series.

Glen Helen Setup Location

There is an outreach scheduled at Glen Helen for the Boy Scouts this Saturday, Sept. 29 from 6:30pm to 9:30pm.  The setup location is attached.
The next club meeting is Saturday, October 6th.

Outreach – County Museum Friday Night

Tonight, Friday September 21, is the outreach at the San Bernardino County Museum.  Setup around 7:00 pm with viewing starting at 8:00 pm.  We will be setting up in the back by taking the Edward’s Mansion driveway.  All other visitors will need to enter the museum normally and paid an entry fee.  There will be other astronomy related actives this evening in addition to viewing.  We will have Mars, Saturn, Jupiter and Venus along with the Moon.

Grandview 2 this weekend

This weekend is the second trip to the White Mountains for our “Grandview” of dark night sky.  The official dates are Sept. 7-9; some are going up early on Thursday, Sept. 6.  We will be camping at the lower Cedar Flats campground at the Nelson camp site.  Cedar Flats is the campground on highway 168 right before the typical Grandview / Bristle cone pines turn off.  Please use the event SignUp to let people know that you are coming and what your are contributing to the Saturday breakfast potluck.
