Notes:
For those of you visiting Pioneertown Preserve for the first time, please remember to dress warmly, as the desert nights can be quite cool. Be sure to bring plenty of drinks and snacks for yourself.

Star Party Etiquette:
As with all star parties, please observe standard star party etiquette. Some tips: try to arrive and set up before dark; use no white light – use red filtered flashlights wherever possible – minimize white light from the auto door and dome lights; if you arrive late or plan to leave early, take care to approach and park so your headlights or backup lights do not shine on other participants; if you leave early or must use white light, first give a warning so observers or astrophotographers can compensate; please ask before handling other participant’s telescope equipment. Most importantly, be prepared to relax and enjoy good company under the night sky.

The weather is a concern, with clouds and wind. This would not be a pleasant trip. I think I’ll catch the next one instead.

The weather is looking like a chance of rain Saturday evening and/or winds. I don’t plan on going. I am wondering if we should officially cancel.

I’ve been informed that rain is forecasted on Saturday!! I had intended to participate, past advice is passage to our typical stationing site can get risky with inclement weather if pathway are muddied… your thoughts my fellow brethen…

Interesting in bringing rv to come look at the stars and planets.

The road leading up to the parking lot is narrow and would probably not accommodate an RV.

The event is still on. The fires are well outside this area. Weather and other conditions could change as the date approaches. We will post event updates in this comment section if the need arises.

The weather is looking like it will begin to rain Saturday evening and/or be windy. This month’s star party is probably not a good one.
