It’s been in the news whether Betelgeuse is about (well 650 years ago) to explode. Betelgeuse is a known variable with a range from 0.0 to +1.3. The current dip is more pronounced this time.

Also note that membership for individual or family is now $40.00 / year. Membership runs from January to December. The membership form can be found on our website in the right-hand menu.

Our annual holiday get-together is this Saturday at Shakey’s in Redlands starting at 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm. There is a secret Santa gift exchange for those that want to participate.

On Saturday, Nov. 23, the club will be at Whitewater preserve from 5:30pm – 8:30pm. This is the first time at Whitewater since last winter’s rains washed out the road.

On Sunday Nov. 24, Jupiter and Venus will be 1.4 degrees apart. So at our outreach, the two brightest planets will be close just not their closest.

The forecast is for rain and cloudy skies. The outreach has been cancelled.

The next SBVAA Public Outreach will be this Saturday, September 28^th, 2019 at The Wildlands Conservancy Oak Glen Preserve. Sunset is at 6:37 pm, set up no earlier than 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm. Viewing will go from 6:30 pm to 11:45 pm.
