Update from Mike Ratcliff:

“10 am Friday update. Unfortunately looks like smoke is going to be bad. From Vista point the valley big pine lone pine and bishop look bad and I can see the smoke coming up the hills toward Grandview. Right now Grandview is ok. There is also heavy smoke to the East toward Nevada. The clear dark sky prediction is heavy smoke later today.   So with all of that I am heading home today. Giving up campsite. Talk to you later. Mike”

This event will take place at the official Grandview campground, past the reservation-only Cedar Flat, up at 10,000 feet.  It is a first-come-first-serve camping spot.

Thanks for the update Mike, I’ll look for another star party location, maybe Kelbaker or Mojave desert higher altitude.

Thank you Mike for all your updates. Have a safe trip back.

I won’t be there. Not sure I’ll be missed or if you even remember me. LOL I haven’t seen the group in a very long time. Too much dang work and not enough play. I will try to make the meeting on the 14th. Have fun and clear sky’s

Hi All, The last Grandview was so fun, even if for one night…But upon taking the Tioga Pass home (through Yosemite) just about killed me! It was 37 miles of curves, when I was already tired….But, perhaps next year, I can stop and camp half way through, and the same coming back to Mariposa…We’ll see…The rest of you, have a wonderful time for those of us who can’t make…And, Chris Clarke, this only make two times that you’ve EVER missed Grandview?….Heal well, Friend…..Robin Hennen

I am planning on coming up on Thursday and departing on Sunday. Taking my big binocs, my motorhome and an 8″ Orion reflector. Looking forward to seeing Martin and Cliff B, as I haven’t seen you guys in quite some time.

I got a decent spot #12. It’s the last one on the east side of the meadow. After entering the campground take the first right. Go past pit bathroom and go several more locations. My car is a white Toyota highlands SUV. If I’m not there I will set up a blue chair and an orange bucket to reserve the spot. Help yourself. Also a Coleman tent. Hope to see you there

North side of meadow. … If you see road split then went too far go back one. The post with #12 is hard to see in shadow of tree very close to the road. Post about one foot tall. Yellow letters

  8. Cliff B.

I will be there friday with eggs and sausages for saturday breakfast.

  9. Mike Ratcliff

I will be up there Wednesday night. I’ll try to snag a large site. Mike

I will be there late Friday afternoon with the 20″ scope, large binoculars, food and water, and a canopy for shade. Come on up and join me! Weather looks good.

I’m still on the mend with my bruised foot and swollen ankle, so alas, I won’t be able to attend the star party. I hope that all who go have a wonderful time and a stunning night sky to observe.

Hello, I am interested in connecting with someone from your club about an event at a school in San Bernardino this Fall. Please email me at aritter@lcer.org so we can connect. I didn’t find anywhere on the website to email the club.
    Thank you!
