Star Party Etiquette:

As with all star parties, please observe standard star party etiquette. Some tips: try to arrive and setup before dark; use no white light – use red filtered flashlights wherever possible – minimize white light from auto door and dome lights; if you arrive late or plan to leave early, take care to approach and park so your headlights or backup lights do not shine on other participants; if you leave early or must use white light, first give a warning so observers or astrophotographers can compensate; please ask before handling other participant’s telescope equipment. Most importantly, be prepared to relax and enjoy good company under the night sky.

Hay Guys, Sorry to be the barer of bad news but due to mostly cloudy skies the Whitewater folks have CANCELLED the star party outreach. 😢

Is this still on? Is the road passable after the rain?

I plan to attend with my C-8.

We haven’t received any word that the road is closed. I think there wasn’t enough rain to be an issue. Their Facebook page still has us listed.

I’m planning to be at there with a refractor and the SeeStar.

Hi there! What’s the difference between a Star Party and an outreach event?

An outreach is intended for the public and a star party is intended for our club members. We might expect to be a little more relaxed on white light usage when at an outreach. There is usually a set time for an outreach although a lot of us do not stay out too late at star parties.

Thank you! Right now I’m planning to be there. It will be nice to meet you!

Really similar. But outreach is more “ reaching out “ to expose the public to the beauty of the night sky, where as a pure Star Party us just for the enjoyment of the night sky!
